A singhasan for murti in hand-carved solid teak, with a tall oval halo back and standing lions carrying the seat. The seat itself is left completely clear - no arms, no upstands - so a murti can be placed centrally with the halo rising directly behind it.

Master Indian artisans carve every part by hand from seasoned solid teak. The halo is built up in concentric bands cut at different depths, the lions are worked in the round as full standing figures, and the seat rail carries its own carved run.

It is made to order. Choose the size, the bands on the halo, the finish tone, and whether you want gilded or coloured highlights. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. Behind it stand a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The most carefully chosen piece of wood in this whole singhasan is the one with nothing carved on it at all.

The oval at the centre of the halo is plain, and it is plain on purpose - it is the ground a murti will stand against, and anything happening on it would compete. But plain does not mean any board will do. Teak varies enormously: some boards have long, quiet, almost straight grain; others have swirls, cathedral figure, dark streaks and colour changes that pull the eye across them.

For a carved band, lively figure is an advantage - it disappears once the surface is cut up into ornament. For a flat panel that has to recede, it is the opposite. So when the stack is sorted for a piece like this, the most figured boards go to the carved rings and the quietest, most featureless board in the pile is set aside for the centre. It is often a board a furniture maker would otherwise pass over as dull.

That is the whole decision, and it is made before anything is cut. Everything carved around the oval is designed to draw the eye inward. A restless piece of grain in the middle would throw all of it away.

Frame: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Back: tall oval halo with a plain oval centre panel inside concentric carved bands - beading, scrolling vine, repeating florets and an outer leaf border.

Crest: carved medallion at the top of the halo.

Legs: standing lions carved in the round at both front corners, carrying the seat.

Seat: clear solid teak bench platform with no arms.

Seat rail: carved run beneath the seat front.

Finish: natural teak hand polish as photographed. Any tone can be matched, and gilded or coloured highlights can be added on the bands and medallion.

Cushion: none as photographed. A fitted cushion in any fabric can be made for the seat.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

The halo is wide, tall and thin in section, so it is protected around its whole perimeter rather than at points.

A foam frame is built around the outer edge of the oval so any side load is taken at the rim and never across the carved bands. The crest medallion gets its own collar. The lions' heads, manes and paws each get shaped collars, since they project furthest at the base and would take an impact first.

A soft non-abrasive layer covers all the polished surfaces before any of that, so nothing coarse touches the finish. Corrugated panels then build a rigid shell around the piece, with the base blocked and braced so the weight rests on the lions' feet rather than on the halo above. The outer carton is edge-reinforced so stacked weight in transit is carried by the packaging. Everything unwraps by hand, layer by layer, with no blades needed near the carving.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price - no zone pricing, no distance surcharge, no separate freight line at checkout. The same cost delivered to Thrissur as to Jamshedpur.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. The piece leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on figure and relief carving, and is checked at each transfer point. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee is ours, not the transporter's.

Because it is carved to order, production begins once your size, finish and carving details are confirmed in writing. If the singhasan is being built around a particular murti, send us its height and width at enquiry so the seat and the halo are scaled correctly around it. We give a realistic timeline in writing, keep you updated as the work progresses, and send a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

The solid teak frame and joinery carry a 20-year warranty. On this piece that covers the standing lion legs and the joints where the seat sits across them, the seat platform and rail, and the halo and its bands. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it with no end date. Teak's natural oils are why termites leave it alone, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the piece is yours.

The lions are structural here rather than decorative - they carry the seat and everything above it - and the warranty covers them as such. That is possible because the singhasan is made from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves. Registration is automatic with your order, and your order number is enough to open a claim.
