An antique throne chair with a matching footstool, in carved solid teak with buttoned oxblood leather. The bronze-brown finish and the six carved lions between the two pieces give it the character of something inherited rather than bought - which is the point of the style.

Master Indian artisans carve and turn both frames by hand from seasoned solid teak. The lion heads on the arm columns and the standing lion legs on both pieces are worked in the round; the crest and the carved borders are cut from solid stock.

The set is made to order. Choose the leather or fabric, the finish tone, the seat width and the back height. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. It comes with a 20-year warranty on the teak frames and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

There are six carved lions in this set - two on the chair's arms, two on its front legs, four on the stool - and they all come out of the same board.

That is a deliberate choice made in the timber yard rather than at the bench. Teak varies from tree to tree and even from board to board within a tree: colour runs from honey to a deep chocolate brown, and the grain can be quiet and straight in one plank and full of figure in the next. Under a dark finish those differences narrow, but they do not vanish. Put a figure carved from a pale board next to one carved from a dark board and, in raking light, one lion looks like it belongs to a different chair.

So when a set like this is planned, one board wide enough and long enough for every figure is set aside, and the blanks are cut from it in sequence. Adjacent blanks share adjacent grain, which means all six animals share a colour and a character.

It uses a better board than strictly necessary and it means the whole set waits on one piece of timber. What you get is a chair and a stool that look like they were always one object - because in a sense, they were.

Frames: solid teak throughout on both pieces, hand-carved and hand-turned by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Back: tall deep-buttoned upholstered panel inside a carved border, under a carved crest with a central medallion.

Arms: turned columns terminating in carved lion heads, with upholstered arm panels.

Seat: upholstered seat on a sprung and padded frame with studded trim.

Legs: carved standing lions at the front, turned rear legs.

Footstool: buttoned upholstered top on a rope-moulded carved rail, standing on four carved lion legs.

Upholstery: oxblood leather as photographed. Any leather or fabric can be used instead, including your own material.

Finish: deep bronze-brown hand finish. Any tone can be matched, and gilded highlights can be added.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production, for both pieces.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

Six carved lions between two pieces means six sets of projecting heads and paws, and each is packed individually before either piece is wrapped as a whole.

Every lion gets a shaped foam collar around head, mane and paws, deep enough to stand proud of the carving. The crest at the top of the chair gets its own collar, and the carved border around the back is protected with a continuous foam strip so pressure is spread rather than landing on raised work. The rope moulding on the stool rail gets the same treatment.

A soft non-abrasive layer covers the finish and the leather so nothing coarse touches either, laid smoothly with no folds pressing into the buttoned faces. Corrugated panels build rigid shells around each piece, bases blocked and braced so weight rests on the frames rather than the carving, and the outer cartons are edge-reinforced. Everything unwraps by hand, no blades needed.

Free PAN-India delivery covers both pieces - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no separate charge for the stool. The set costs the same delivered to Jalandhar as to Jabalpur.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed on both. They leave in multi-layer protective packaging, travel with handlers briefed on figure carving and leather upholstery, and are checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open either carton, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee rests with us, not with the transporter.

Because the set is made to order, production begins once your leather, finish and measurements are confirmed in writing. Six carved figures take real time and we give a realistic timeline rather than an optimistic one, with updates as both pieces move through carving, finishing and upholstery, and a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

Both frames carry a 20-year warranty on the solid teak and its joinery. On the chair that covers the tall back frame and the joints holding it upright, the seat frame, the turned arm columns and the carved lion legs; on the stool, its rail, frame and four legs. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside on both pieces with no end date. Teak's natural oils are why termites leave it alone, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the set is yours.

Carved legs carrying a seated person are the clearest case for a long frame warranty, and they are covered here as structural members on both pieces. That is possible because the set is made from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who build everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
