This is a royal console table in hand-carved solid teak, made to order for the wall it will stand against. The contrast of dark polish and gold is what makes it work in a formal hall - the polish keeps the piece grounded, and the gilding carries the detail at a distance.

Master Indian artisans build and carve it by hand from seasoned solid teak. The frieze is carved as one continuous run rather than repeated sections, the mounts at the leg knees are carved separately and fitted, and the stretcher centrepiece is worked from solid stock.

Every dimension and the top material are yours to set. Custom sizes are made to order and final measurements are confirmed in writing before production. Behind it stand a 20-year warranty on the teak frame and joinery, a lifetime warranty against termite damage, free PAN-India delivery with guaranteed dent-free arrival, and multi-layer protective packaging.

The gilded mounts at the knees of these legs sit on a curve that runs in two directions at once, and getting a separate piece to bed onto that without a shadow gap is the fussiest half hour on the whole console.

A leg like this is convex front to back and also swells side to side, so its surface curves both ways - what a maker calls a compound curve. A mount carved on a flat bench has a flat back. Put the two together and the mount touches at its centre and lifts at all four edges, and once the piece is gilded that lift reads as a dark line right around the ornament.

So the mount is bedded. Its back is hollowed to roughly the leg's curve, then a marking medium is smeared on the leg and the mount pressed onto it. Wherever it touches, colour transfers; those are the high spots, and they are pared away. Press, pare, press again - usually a dozen cycles before the transfer shows contact right across the back.

Only then is the mount gilded and fixed. What you see afterwards is ornament that appears to have grown out of the leg rather than been laid on it.

Structure: solid teak throughout, hand-carved by master Indian artisans, with traditional joinery at every junction.

Frieze: continuous gilded scrolling foliage around a central medallion, in black framed panels with gilt figures at the corners.

Apron: shaped, dropping to a carved and gilded cartouche.

Legs: carved cabriole legs with gilded mounts bedded to the knees, finishing in gilded paw feet.

Stretcher: shaped stretcher between all four legs with a carved and gilded centrepiece.

Top: as photographed, with a gilded moulded edge. Stone, glass or solid timber can be specified.

Finish: deep red-brown hand polish with hand-applied gold. Both are set by you.

Size: custom sizes made to order - final measurements confirmed in writing before production.

Photography: images on this page are of the actual product, not renders.

Gilded elements on a polished ground need protecting from two different things - impact on the gold, and abrasion on the polish - so both are wrapped before anything rigid comes near.

A soft non-abrasive layer covers every surface first, laid smoothly with no folds. The gilded knee mounts, the paw feet, the apron cartouche and the stretcher centrepiece each get shaped foam collars, since all of them stand proud.

The frieze is covered with a continuous foam strip along its full length so pressure is spread rather than landing on the raised scrollwork. A rigid panel goes over the top. Corrugated panels build a rigid shell, the base is blocked and braced, and the outer carton is edge-reinforced so stacked weight in transit is carried by the packaging. Everything unwraps by hand.

Free PAN-India delivery is included in the price - no zone rates, no distance surcharge, no freight line at checkout. The console costs the same delivered to Jaipur as to Jamnagar.

Dent-free arrival is guaranteed. It leaves in multi-layer protective packaging, travels with handlers briefed on gilded mounts and polished surfaces, and is checked at every transfer point. If anything is not right when you open it, tell us and we make it right - the guarantee sits with us, not with the transporter.

Because the console is made to order, production begins once your dimensions, top material and finish are confirmed in writing. Send the wall length at enquiry - on a console the wall decides the size, not the room. We give a realistic timeline and a dispatch note with an expected delivery window.

The solid teak structure and its joinery carry a 20-year warranty - the top frame, the frieze rails, the apron, the leg joints, the legs and the stretcher. If a joint opens or a member fails within those twenty years, we repair or replace it.

A lifetime warranty against termite damage runs alongside it and never expires. Teak's natural oils are what termites avoid, and our seasoning and finishing routine is built around preserving them, so the timber is guaranteed for as long as the console is yours.

The bedded mounts are fixed mechanically as well as glued, onto a stable ground - which is why they stay tight rather than opening a shadow line after a few seasons. All of it is built from start to finish in our own workshop by the master Indian artisans who make everything we sell, from timber we season ourselves.
