Overview

This is a royal luxury handcrafted carved teak wood bed finished in dark walnut polish with hand-laid gold leaf on the carving. The headboard is the centrepiece: tall and arched, rising through pierced gold scrollwork to a carved crest, with a diamond button-tufted cream upholstered panel set within the carved frame. The footboard is carved to match, with tufted panels flanking a central gilt cartouche, and the whole frame stands on carved cabriole legs. Matching bedside tables with carved gilt fronts complete the set.

It is made for a master bedroom in a large home, a farmhouse, or a hotel suite. Every dimension is cut to order - the frame is built around your mattress, not the other way round - so king size, queen size, double, single or a non-standard size are all the same commission. Storage can be built in beneath, and the headboard height adjusted to your ceiling and wall.

The Story Behind This Bed

Bed sizes in India are a genuine mess, and it is worth setting out plainly because it is the single most common source of problems when people buy a bed.

There is no legally fixed standard. Indian king size is commonly around 72 by 78 inches or 72 by 72; queen size around 60 by 78 or 60 by 72; double around 48 by 75; single around 36 by 75. But manufacturers vary, and mattress makers vary independently of bed makers - which is why a mattress bought separately so often sits proud, sits short, or rattles loose in a frame.

Western sizes add another layer of confusion. A US king is 76 by 80 inches; a UK king is 60 by 78 - narrower than an Indian king. Buying an imported bed and an Indian mattress, or the reverse, is where people end up with a gap at the foot.

Our answer is simple: we do not work to a size chart. You give us the exact mattress dimensions, and we cut the internal frame to them with the correct clearance.

Factual specification for this royal luxury carved teak wood bed:

  • Material: Solid teak wood frame, hand-carved (no veneer, no engineered wood, no plywood in load-bearing members)
  • Style: Rococo carved bed with upholstered tufted headboard and carved footboard
  • Finish: Dark walnut polish with hand-laid gold leaf on the carving; customisable to full gold, antique gold, ivory and gold, or a lighter natural teak polish
  • Headboard: Tall arched carved headboard with pierced gold scrollwork, carved crest and diamond button-tufted upholstered panel; height adjustable to your wall
  • Footboard: Carved to match, with tufted panels flanking a central gilt cartouche; can be omitted or built lower on request
  • Sizes: Made to order in king size, queen size, double, single or any custom dimension - the internal frame is cut to your exact mattress with correct clearance
  • Storage: Optional storage beneath - hydraulic lift, box or drawers
  • Matching pieces: Carved bedside tables, dresser and wardrobe available in the same design
  • Delivery: Pan-India, free shipping, assembled on site by our team

Packaging and Transit Protection

Beds ship dismantled as components: headboard, footboard, side rails, slats or platform, legs and fittings, each crated separately. The headboard is the largest and most vulnerable piece - tall, relatively thin in section and carrying pierced carving across its full width - so it travels flat in its own cross-braced crate with rigid boards on both faces so it cannot flex, and its carved crest and scrollwork are individually foam-wrapped.

The upholstered tufted panel is protected with standoff blocking that bridges over the buttons rather than pressing on them, and covered in soft breathable cloth. The footboard is crated the same way. Side rails are edge-protected along their full length, since a knocked rail end will not seat correctly at assembly. All fittings are bagged, labelled and packed with the assembly drawing. Every crate is corner-guarded, foam-blocked, marked for orientation and lifting points, and photographed sealed before dispatch.

Shipping and Delivery

Before manufacture we need three things: your exact mattress dimensions, your ceiling height if you want a tall headboard, and your access route. Typical lead time is 9 to 11 weeks from order confirmation, longer if matching side tables, a dresser or a wardrobe are included, since those are made alongside so the finish matches across the set.

Delivery is free anywhere in India - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and elsewhere. Our team delivers, carries the components up, assembles the bed in the room, levels it and takes the packaging away. Please confirm doorway, stair and lift dimensions in advance and measure the headboard height against your ceiling - a tall carved headboard is often the component that will not turn on a landing. International orders quoted case by case.

Craftsmanship Assurance and Care

Our craftsmanship assurance covers the solid teak frame, its joinery, the mattress support platform and the hand-carving. If a joint works loose, a rail fails or a carved element separates because of a fault in the making - rather than through impact, misuse, sitting or standing on the footboard, or an attempted self-repair - we repair or replace it. Upholstery on the headboard panel is a consumable component covered separately.

Beds are dismantled and reassembled more often than any other furniture, usually when a house is moved. Keep the assembly fittings we supply, and always tighten all fixings after reassembly and again a fortnight later once the frame has settled - a bed that squeaks is almost always a bed with a loose fixing, not a faulty one. Dust the gilded carving with a dry soft brush, never a cloth. Vacuum the tufted headboard panel with a brush attachment, using a soft brush around the buttons. Never use liquid cleaner on gold leaf or the polished frame.

Commonly around 72 by 78 inches or 72 by 72 inches, but there is no legally fixed standard and manufacturers vary. Indian queen size is usually 60 by 78 or 60 by 72, double 48 by 75 and single 36 by 75. Because we build to order, we cut the frame to your exact mattress rather than to a chart.

No, and this catches people out. A US king is 76 by 80 inches; a UK king is 60 by 78, which is narrower than an Indian king. Mixing an imported bed with an Indian mattress, or the reverse, is how people end up with a gap at the foot.

Yes, because we build the frame around it. Send us the exact length, width and thickness of your mattress and we cut the internal frame with the correct clearance. Never order a bed to a size label and hope the mattress matches.

Yes - king, queen, double, single or any non-standard dimension. The carving is proportioned to the size rather than simply stretched, so a queen size version is redrawn rather than shrunk.

Squeaking is movement at a joint, almost always a loose fixing rather than a fault. Tighten all fixings after assembly and again a fortnight later once the frame has settled. Keep the fittings we supply, since beds are dismantled more often than any other furniture.

Yes - bedside tables, dresser and wardrobe are all built in the same carved design and finish. Order them together so the polish and gold leaf match, since both are hand-applied and vary between batches.
