The Story Behind This Bedroom Set
A bedroom is the one room where furniture is seen as a group rather than as individual pieces. You take in the bed and both side tables in a single glance from the doorway, and the wardrobe and dresser in the next - which means any mismatch between them registers immediately, in a way it never would in a living room where pieces sit apart.
That is why we make sets as one production run. The ivory is mixed as a single batch and applied across every piece in sequence; the gold leaf is laid by the same gilder over the same days. Add a side table eighteen months later and it will be a very close match, but under the same lamp, beside the original, a discerning eye finds it.
The second reason to commission together is proportion. Bedside cabinet height should relate to mattress height, which depends on your mattress thickness and whether the bed has a storage base - so the cabinets are dimensioned after the bed is specified, not chosen separately. Buy them apart and you get side tables that sit too low or too high, which is the commonest fault in Indian bedrooms.
